About this Blog

This site has been created in honour of a colleague and friend, and dedicated to those who have been affected by cancer. To all those currently fighting the battle, those mourning the loss of a friend or family member or celebrating the good news that they are in remission.

To these amazing souls who are going through this as well as their families and friends, know that there are many of us out there spreading the "hoop/hope" for you, for the mourning hearts to heal and that those who are suffering will have hope in their lives to continue the fight and be victorious in the end. This is for you, so please continue spreading the hoop/hope and watch it grow!

The idea behind the hoop project is to spread the Hoop, or Hope, and involve as many people as we possibly can. Our friend has a tattoo of hoop (hope in Afrikaans) on her arm and we wanted to do something special for her, so we created a stencil of her tattoo and have started spreading the hope amongst ourselves. In order for this initiative to catch fire we need these messages of hope and love to travel far and wide because she is not able to.

Download the stencil and help us send the message as far as we can. Email your photos and messages to us at thehoopproject@gmail.com

HOOP in Magaliesberg

Magaliesberg mountain view
On top of the highest peak of the Magaliesberg mountain I saw a breathtaking view together with a cross, which symbolised God overlooking everyone and everything.
‘HOOP’ will now for all eternity stand on that mountain at the foot of the cross.

Rock art in the Magaliesberg
The oldest way of human expression was through art. Thanks to cave paintings modern humans could understand, learn from, and appreciate the way we are today. These paintings survived through thousands of years because of their location.  I chose to place ‘HOOP’ in a cave on the Magaliesberg mountain, to symbolise eternity, remembrance, appreciation and understanding.
